Fugitive preacher Amritpal Singh taken to Dibrugarh central jail in Assam after his arrest

Along with the National Security Act, six other cases have also been registered against Amritpal Singh, head of Waris Punjab De, in which serious cases like murder, kidnapping and extortion have been registered.

New Delhi: Amritpal Singh has been arrested by the Punjab Police from the Gurudwara of Rode village in Moga. Along with the National Security Act (NSA), six other cases have also been registered against Amritpal Singh, chief of Waris Punjab De Sanghatana, in which sections of serious cases like murder, kidnapping and extortion have been registered. On the other hand, after his arrest, Amritpal Singh has been taken to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam. Due to security reasons, it has been decided not to keep Amritpal in Punjab or nearby jails.

Amritpal Singh taken to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam for security reasons where his 6 close aides lodged. In fact, there was a possibility of increasing tension in the state by keeping Amritpal in a jail in Punjab and there was also a possibility of an incident like Ajnala police station if Amritpal was lodged in a jail in Punjab or nearby. This is the reason why the Punjab Police, as a precautionary measure, has decided to send Amritpal Singh away from Punjab to Dibrugarh Jail in Assam so that law and order is maintained in Punjab. Amritpal’s companions have also been kept in Dibrugarh Jail in Assam.

The first case was registered against Amritpal Singh on 16 February 2023. The case was related to kidnapping and torture. After this, a case of attempt to murder was registered against Amritpal Singh. This case pertains to the Ajnala police station on February 23, where Amritpal and his supporters stormed the police station and freed their arrested accomplice Lovepreet Singh Toofan and several policemen were also injured in the clash.

After this, on March 18, when the police was trying to arrest Amritpal Singh, during that time Amritpal Singh tried to run away and in this attempt his car hit several vehicles including the policemen’s car. Due to which the police registered a case against Amritpal Singh on charges of wrongful driving and assault on a government servant.

On March 19, when the Punjab Police was searching for Amritpal Singh, the police recovered weapons from Amritpal’s associates, after which the police registered a case against Amritpal Singh and his associates under the Arms Act. The Khilchian police had also registered a case against Amritpal Singh on charges of rash driving, criminal provocation and obstructing public servants on duty.

On March 21, the police registered a case against Amritpal Singh at the Shahkot police station. The case was related to illegal extortion and rioting and Arms Act. In fact, during the absconding, Amritpal Singh Nangal had filed a case in the Gurdwara of Ambia Khurd village for threatening the Granthi of the Gurdwara and taking his son’s clothes with the help of a gun to disguise himself.

Meanwhile, a case was registered against Amritpal Singh under the National Security Act (Rasuka). Explain that action is taken under the NSA against a person who is considered a threat to the security of the country. Along with Amritpal, his associates have also been booked under the NSA.
