Gautam Gambhir’s announcement as Team India’s head coach leaves internet in tizzy

Indian cricket team has got a new head coach. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah announced the name of the head coach on Tuesday. Indian team's opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has been made the new head coach of Team India, who will now replace Rahul Dravid.

Gautam Gambhir: Indian cricket team has got a new head coach. Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Secretary Jay Shah announced the name of the head coach on Tuesday. Indian team’s opening batsman Gautam Gambhir has been made the new head coach of Team India, who will now replace Rahul Dravid. Actually, Rahul Dravid’s tenure had ended, after which the search for a new head coach was going on.

Let us tell you that BCCI had invited applications in May. After this, test of two people was taken. Apart from Gambhir, the name of former Indian women’s team coach WV Raman was included in these. At the same time, now Gautam Gambhir’s name has been announced. Gambhir will be the coach of Team India in all three formats. Jay Shah had already said that separate coaches would not be appointed. Gambhir’s tenure will be 3.5 years.

Announcing Gambhir’s name, Jai Shah said – I am very happy to announce Gambhir’s name as the head coach of Team India. I welcome him as the head coach of the Indian cricket team. Modern cricket has evolved rapidly and Gautam has witnessed this changing scenario closely. Having endured hardships throughout his career and excelling in various roles, I am confident that Gautam is the ideal person to take Indian cricket forward.

He further wrote that, his clear vision for the team, coupled with his vast experience, makes him perfectly capable of taking on this exciting and most demanding coaching role. BCCI fully supports this new journey of Gambhir.

Cricket expert and analyst Harsha Bhogle also expressed optimism that Gambhir would excel in his role as head coach of the Indian team, predicting he would do a ‘fine job’.
