New Delhi: Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi while he bent down to the ground and saluted the crowd three times at a rally in Abu Road on Friday. Gehlot, who recently pulled out of the race for Congress president, remarked, “Modi wants to demonstrate that he is more humble than I am. Therefore, he performed dandvat pranaam three times yesterday in Rajasthan’s Abu Road.
In an unusual move, PM Modi bowed three times to the audience on stage before bidding them farewell in a meeting. After doing the pranaam three times for the crowd, he left the venue and waved to them as he did so.
Prime Minister Modi stopped at Abu Road on his way back to Delhi from Gujarat, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of several projects.
“What does he want to show by doing that? He knows that Gehlot has the image of a humble man in Rajasthan, and he wants to show that he is more humble than me. If he had made an appeal to maintain peace and communal harmony, then I would have credited and thanked him Gehlot said.
“At Abu Road, PM Modi did not deliver his speech on the microphone in front of a large crowd because he refused to violate any rule prohibiting the use of loudspeakers after 10 pm.” He did not use a microphone and loudspeaker,” said a later tweet from the Rajasthan BJP unit’s official handle.
