New Delhi: CDS General Bipin Rawat, 10 others passed away after IAF Mi-17V5 chopper crashed in Tamil Nadu on Wednesday. The news of Bipin Rawat’s death was confirmed by Lt Gen HS Panga on Twitter.
Based on media reports, his wife Mrs Madhulika Rawat also passed away in the tragic accident.
CDS Gen Bipin Rawat was brought to Wellington hospital in a very critical situation.
According to media reports eleven deaths have been confirmed so far.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin will be reaching Coimbatore from Chennai Airport today evening and then he will move to Nilgiris, following the incident of military chopper crash between Coimbatore and Sulu.
A probe has also been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.
An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

Visuals from the site of the IAF helicopter crash showed massive flames and locals helping with the immediate rescue operations. Several teams are at the site carrying out search and rescue operations. Local military officers have reached the location and were told that locals have taken two bodies with 80 per cent burns to a local hospital while more bodies were seen downhill, as per media reports.
