Chennai: Severe protests were seen in Tamil Nadu against the governor, asking him to ‘get out,” amid the ongoing differences between Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and Governor RN Ravi.
Twitter surfaced with ‘GetOutRavi’ immediately. On Tuesday morning, posters with the images of CM Stalin, Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, and Dhayanidhi Maran were displayed across Chennai.
On Monday night, DMK supporters burnt the governor’s posters in Sulur, while members of the Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam burnt his effigy in Chennai and Coimbatore.
Things really got ugly when Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi left the Assembly on Monday morning, after chief minister MK Stalin moved a resolution stating that only the customary address by the government would be on record for the first day of the House’s winter session.
Udhayanidhi Stalin stated in an interview with a magazine that CM Stalin will discuss anything regarding the governor.
Speaker Appavu, however, voiced his displeasure with the governor’s conduct in the Assembly. “Until the national anthem is sung, it is customary to remain in the assembly.” It is regrettable that he didn’t mention the name of Ambedkar, who drafted the Indian Constitution and is today credited with creating the world’s largest democracy. And he was unable to embrace the Dravida Model.
I’m also sad that he is causing such problems. The Constitution simply refers to it as Tamil Nadu Indian. Appavu said, “I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for a governor to behave in this manner.”
According to BJP MLA Vanathi Srinivasan, tolerance is essential. Tolerance is the essence of democracy. “What kind of value will they provide to society?” Claimed Vanathi Srinivasan, a BJP MLA.
