GoFirst has also issued a statement, which it posted along with the tweet, stating that the company has filed an application for immediate resolution and revival of operations and will soon resume bookings. is optimistic. “We are sad to inform that due to operational reasons, GoFirst flights scheduled through August 6, 2023 have been cancelled.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the flight cancellation. We acknowledge that flight cancellations can disrupt your travel plans. “We’ll provide whatever assistance we can,” GoFirst said in the statement, “and we’re committed to helping.”
Earlier on May 2, GoFirst canceled its flights and filed for voluntary bankruptcy before the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), seeking immediate fulfillment of obligations on behalf of US-based engine maker, Pratt & Whitney. Delay was alleged due to inability to do so.
Last Friday, the DGCA had given conditional permission to the grounded airline GoFirst to resume its operations. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had said that GoFirst can resume scheduled flight operations subject to availability of interim funding and approval of the flight schedule by the regulator.
The regulator had allowed operation of 15 aircraft and 114 daily flights. The airline has around 4,200 employees, and it reported a total revenue from operations of Rs 4,183 crore in the financial year 2021-22. There were reports that the closure of GoFirst flights had put pressure on airfares, especially on select routes where it was affected.
