Go First Crisis: Go First flights canceled till May 28, passengers worried

Stuck in financial crisis, GoFirst has canceled flights till May 28, 2023. At the same time, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked GoFirst to submit its revival plan within 30 days.

Stuck in financial crisis, GoFirst has canceled flights till May 28, 2023. Earlier, citing operational reasons, it was announced to suspend flight operations till May 26. The airline had expressed hope that it would be able to resume bookings soon. Significantly, GoFirst flights have been closed since May 3. The airline had said in one of its petitions that it was facing financial crisis. After the bankruptcy petition, the DGCA had issued a show cause notice to the airline. During this, he was asked why his license was canceled after failing to run the flights. Along with this, GoFirst was asked to stop selling air tickets with immediate effect till further orders.

DGCA said: submit the revival plan in 30 days

Aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked GoFirst to submit its revival plan within 30 days. Along with this, the DGCA has also asked the airline to provide information about flyable aircraft, pilots and other employees, maintenance and funds, among other things. DGCA has issued this order after the reply received from the airline on its show cause notice issued on 8 May.

According to media reports, Kaushik Khona, CEO of GoFirst, has assured that the April salary of the employees will be given before resuming operations. The airline has blamed Raytheon-owned engines for its financial woes.

GoFirst operates flights to 35 destinations

GoFirst is the budget airline of the Wadia Group. GoFirst operated the first flight from Mumbai to Ahmedabad in November 2005. The company’s fleet includes 59 aircraft. The airline operates its flights to 27 domestic and 8 international destinations i.e. a total of 35 destinations.
