Panaji: A staff member of a resort in North Goa’s Pernem has been arrested for allegedly stabbing and molesting a Dutch tourist as well as stabbing another person who had gone to help the tourist. Police officials gave this information on Friday. The accused has been identified as Abhishek Verma and the injured person has been identified as Yuriko.
According to Superintendent of Police (SP), Nidhin Valsan, “A resort employee barged into the rented tent of the complainant, when she started shouting for help, a local man came to rescue her from the accused and seeing her presence, the accused The accused then returned with the knife, attacked the local person, further thrashed the complainant and fled from the spot.”
The SP further said that the complainant and the local person have been admitted to the hospital for treatment. Nidhin Valsan said, “The knife used for the crime has been recovered. An FIR has been registered under section 452,354,307,506 (II) of the IPC.” Further investigation is underway, details are awaited.
