New Delhi: The Central government is gearing up to make the upcoming parliament session a productive one. The monsoon session will get underway on July 18 and is set to conclude on August 12.
During the upcoming session, the government is ready to announce 24 bills, including the Cantonment Bill and the Multi-State Cooperative Societies Bill. Two separate bills for constitutional amendment to revise the list of Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs) for Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu are also set to be introduced in the coming session of parliament.
Some of the other important bills listed to be introduced in parliament are: the Coffee (Promotion and Development) Bill, the Development of Enterprises and Services Hubs Bill, which proposes to revise the Special Economic Zones Act, 2005 and frame rules; the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) (Amendment) Bill; the Warehousing (Development and Regulation) (Amendment) Bill; and the Competition (Amendment) Bill.
Apart from the 24 bills, a further eight bills are already pending before both Houses.
The forthcoming session of parliament is crucial because the President and the Vice-President are also set to be elected during this monsoon session.
The inaugural day of the session will be hectic as MPs will have to cast their votes for the presidential elections in the polling booths in Parliament. The result is expected to be declared on July 21.
