The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) introduced two groundbreaking portals, the Digital Intelligence Platform (DIP) and Chakshu, aimed at tackling cybercrime and financial frauds. Launched by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, these portals foster real-time intelligence sharing among law enforcement agencies, banks, financial intermediaries, telecom service providers, and social media platforms.

Government Unveils DIP and Chakshu Portals. DIP, a backend module, facilitates seamless intelligence exchange, enabling swift collaboration between various stakeholders. Law enforcement agencies, banks, financial intermediaries such as PhonePe, and social media giants like WhatsApp and Telegram can instantly share information on fraudulent activities. When a number is flagged for fraud, it is promptly disseminated to all stakeholders, leading to its simultaneous blocking across all platforms. While not directly accessible to citizens, DIP serves as a vital repository for requests initiated on the citizen-accessible Sanchar Saathi portal.

Chakshu
Chakshu, integrated into the Sanchar Saathi portal, serves as a vigilant eye against fraud. Users can report suspicious communications received through calls, SMS, or WhatsApp. Upon receiving a complaint, the system prompts the user to re-verify their number. Failure to pass this re-verification process results in the disconnection of the reported number. This proactive measure enhances the overall security of communication channels and discourages fraudulent activities.

The DoT is also actively developing a grievance redressal portal to rectify mistakenly disconnected connections and facilitate the return of funds from frozen accounts. Collaboration with the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and the Department of Financial Services is underway to streamline this process and ensure citizen satisfaction.
