Hyderabad: An unusual event unfolded in Telangana, India, where a wedding was abruptly canceled over a culinary disagreement. A longstanding tradition, the non-vegetarian menu, became the bone of contention that resulted in the termination of the wedding.
The unfortunate occurrence was similar to the plot of a popular Telugu movie ‘Balagam’, featuring a scene of a similar incident. In the film, released in March, a dispute between the groom and the bride’s younger brother over bone marrow in mutton led to the wedding being cancelled.
Both families agreed on conducting the marriage traditionally and lavishly, following which the bride’s family arranged non-vegetarian meals for the family members and relatives of the bridegroom.
The bride’s family from Nizamabad while the groom hails from Jagtiyal had earlier made formal arrangements for the engagement at the bride’s residence in November. However, during the engagement event, guests noticed the non-inclusion of a specific dish: mutton bone marrow. The absence of this popular dish sparked a heated controversy that quickly escalated.
Despite the intervention of local police officers in an attempt to mediate the disagreement, the groom’s family felt insulted by the culinary gaffe. He believed that the neglect to include mutton bone marrow on the menu was deliberate, further angering him. Ultimately, police efforts to resolve the conflict were unsuccessful, leading to the marriage being cancelled.
This unusual situation bears similarity with a popular Telugu movie named ‘Balagam’. The story of the film revolves around a similar situation, where a wedding is canceled due to a dispute over the shortage of mutton bone marrow.
