Ahmedabad: The involvement of Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel’s personal assistant, Dhrumil Patel, who has been caught in bribery and other corruption charges, was sacked on Saturday.
The Chief Minister’s office and the Prime Minister’s Office have received various allegations against Dhrumil Patel.
Instructions to investigate the allegations against Dhrumil Patel had come straight from the PMO office around a month back.
The case is being investigated by the Intelligence Bureau (IB). After the initial probe, the IB has found that the allegation against Patel is absolutely true.
The news came as a shocker, as CM Bhupendra Patel has a very clean image and is known as a down-to-earth person,” said a senior bureaucrat from the CM’s office.
Dhrumil Patel has been associated with Bhupendra Patel since the time he became the chief minister of the state. He had also previously worked with the Gujarat CM when he was the Ghatlodia MLA.
According to sources, Dhrumil Patel has been charged with taking bribes for posting police inspectors and sub-inspectors. He also allegedly cleared the files of the builders. Dhrumil Patel is also suspected to have interfered in the recent transfer of several police inspectors in the state.
