The term of the Gujarat Assembly ends on February 18 next year. Actually, in the past, the Election Commission had announced the dates for the Himachal Pradesh assembly elections, but the Gujarat assembly election schedule has not been announced yet. There is a single phase election in Himachal. It is believed that elections will be completed in Gujarat in December itself. Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party has released its list of candidates even before the dates of Gujarat elections. However, till now neither the BJP nor the Congress has released the list of candidates for the upcoming elections.

Elections for all the 182 seats in the Gujarat Assembly are due in December and the state is likely to witness a triangular contest between the BJP, the opposition Congress and the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). In the 2017 assembly elections, the BJP won 99 seats, while the Congress got 77 seats.

In Himachal Pradesh, polling will be held in a single phase on November 12 and counting of votes will take place on December 8. The last date for filing nominations was October 25. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on October 27, while candidates will be able to withdraw their names by October 29. Voting will be held on 12th November while the counting of votes will take place on 8th December.
