Nagpur: A Gujarat man, arrested by the Nagpur police for allegedly taking money from three BJP MLAs on the promise of ministerial posts in Maharashtra, was in touch with 28 MLAs from several states.
A senior officer said on Saturday that he was arrested by the Delhi Police in a similar case last year. The accused, Neeraj Singh Rathore, a resident of Morbi in Gujarat’s Ahmedabad district, was taken into custody on Tuesday before being brought to Nagpur.
Ministerial post offered for money
The police officer said Rathod was in touch with 28 MLAs from Maharashtra, West Bengal, Haryana, Jharkhand and Delhi for the last three months. He offered ministerial berths to the MLAs in exchange for money and managed to bluff three of them.
The official said Rathod called the three MLAs posing as the personal assistant of BJP president JP Nadda. The official said Rathore duped a Delhi BJP MLA by offering him a role related to the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Let us tell you that he was arrested on the complaint of the MLA and was released on bail in January this year. A case has been registered against Rathore under various sections of the IPC.
