An NDRF official says that the death toll in the Morbi bridge accident in Gujarat could have been less if there had not been shallow water and rocks under the bridge during that time.

The PM also went to the hospital and met the injured. Regarding the incident, the police say that at the time when this bridge was broken, at that time more than 500 people were on it. At the same time, the capacity of this bridge was to carry the load of only 125 people.
An NDRF official says that the death toll in the Morbi bridge accident in Gujarat could have been less if there had not been shallow water and rocks under the bridge during that time. NDRF Commandant VVN Prasanna Kumar, who is leading the rescue, told NDTV on Tuesday that if the water level at the site of the incident had been slightly higher, then perhaps the death toll could have been lower. He told that in the middle of the river where the water is almost stagnant, where there is no flow, the depth is close to 20 feet.
Kumar said that most of the bodies were found under a broken bridge as the river has no flow and the water could not carry them away. He said that based on the figures given by the civil administration for missing people, only one or two bodies are yet to be traced.
