Gurgaon: A call about a bomb threat sparked panic at a hotel in Gurugram on Tuesday turns out a hoax. However, it turned out to be a hoax call and the caller has also been traced. The police said the caller is a 24-year-old person suffering from autism who is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Gurugram.

After 1.5 hour search, Vikas Kaushik, ACP DLF, said nothing suspicious was found in the hotel premises. According to reports, an unidentified person called The Leela Ambience reception at around 11.55 am triggering panic in the hotel. A male voice warned that a bomb will explode in the Ambience Mall.

“A hoax call was made to a private hotel in Gurugram today afternoon. Police reached the hotel, evacuated it and started an investigation. The caller was found to be a 24-year-old person. He was found to be suffering from autism and undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Gurugram,” Police said.

“The hotel received a threat call today morning which was escalated to the local authorities. Investigating authorities followed protocols and have sanitized the hotel . We are providing full support to the investigating agencies and after a thorough check, the hotel has been cleared by authorities to resume normal operations,” a hotel spokesperson had said.

A senior police officer said that mobile which was used to make the call was found switched off when they tried to call back. They traced the mobile’s location to a hospital in Gurgaon’s Sector 47, belonging to an autistic patient who is undergoing treatment.

“He was found to be autistic and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Gurugram,” read the official statement of Gurugram police.
