Gurugram: Traffic police dragged for 50 metres during check-in, run over by SUV; condition critical

Police said that on the complaint of constable Sombir, who was present on the spot, efforts are on to trace the accused by registering a case against unknown person at Sector 53 police station.

Gurugram (Haryana): During a normal vehicle check in Gurugram, a traffic police sub-inspector asked the SUV to stop, but the car driver not only dragged him for 50 meters but also crushed him. Officials said on Saturday that the policemen were seriously injured in the incident.

He said that in this incident that took place at Sector-52, Ambedkar Chowk on Friday afternoon, ASI Harpreet (35) broke her leg and suffered many other serious injuries, her condition remains critical.

Police said that on the complaint of constable Sombir, who was present on the spot, efforts are being made to trace the accused by registering a case against unknown person at Sector 53 police station.

On a complaint by Constable Sombeer, an FIR has been registered against the unidentified accused at Sector 53 police station and efforts are on to trace him, they added.

“We identified the vehicle with the help of CCTV footage and are trying to identify its owner through the registration number. We will nab the accused soon,” said Inspector Amit Kumar, Station House Officer of Sector 53 police station.
