Lucknow: Our teachers, mentors and our gurus play a critical role in shaping our personalities and making us as successful citizens of the world. They not only teach us academics and bookish concepts but also make sure that we become empathetic and kind beings. From inspiring us to be an intelligent yet humble soul they do it all to ensure that we make this society a beautiful place to live in.

Notably, World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on October 5, but every country celebrates the day on different dates and in our country it is celebrated on September 5, marking the birthday of first Vice President of India (1952–1962), Dr Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan, who was the highly-respected teacher, philosopher and prolific statesman, was born on this day in 1888. Dr Radhakrishnan went on to become the second President of India (1962-1967), was of the opinion that “teachers should be the best minds in the country.”
