New Delhi: Hardik Patel, who entered the political arena a few years ago, decided to join the Congress party to become a well-known face and a public figure to gain political mileage in the future as well. He left the party on May 18. He submitted his resignation letter to Sonia Gandhi.
The young Gujarat Patidar leader had targeted Rahul Gandhi in his letter, saying “top leaders” of the party in state were not focusing on their work and were paying more attention to arranging chicken sandwiches for them.
After his resignation, he started to lavish praise on the saffron party. The speculation was high that he would go into the camp of the BJP. He is set to join the BJP on Thursday, June 2, as per the sources. The BJP’s state spokesperson, Yagnesh Dave, said Patel is likely to join the BJP in the presence of Gujarat party president C R Paatil.
Hardik Patel also added that he had wasted three years in the Grand Old Party.
Before his resignation, he started praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership and the Bharatiya Janata Party for being a “key party” while criticising Congress for “ignoring” him. He dubbed the Congress the “casteist” party.
