Haryana government extends winter vacations in schools till Jan 21 due to cold wave

DPR Haryana said in a tweet that the Haryana government has extended the winter vacation in all schools (government and private) in the state till January 21, 2023, due to the severe winter.

Haryana: the country’s weather is changing rapidly due to western disturbances. Once again an alert has been issued regarding the cold wave in Haryana. In view of the winter, the state government has further extended the winter vacation of the schools. The Haryana government has extended the winter vacation in all the schools (government and private) in the state till January 21, 2023, due to the severe winter.

DPR Haryana said in a tweet that the Haryana government has extended the winter vacation in all schools (government and private) in the state till January 21, 2023, due to the severe winter. All schools will remain closed during the said time period. From 23 January 2023, the schools will be opened again. However, in view of the board examinations, classes of 10th and 12th will be held from 10 am to 2 pm. Teachers taking extra classes will get earned leave in return as per rules.

Earlier, the Haryana government had declared winter vacation till January 15, 2023. But in view of the apprehension of cold wave, the government has decided to extend the winter vacation further. In this regard, the Directorate of Education has issued instructions to all District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers, Block Education Officers, Block Elementary Education Officers and school heads of the state.

Many parts of Haryana and Punjab received light rains with the minimum temperatures hovering close to normal limits on Friday, the Meteorological department said. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a minimum temperature of 9.2 degrees Celsius. In Haryana, Narnaul recorded a low of 9.5 deg C, Karnal 10.6 deg C, Rohtak 11.2 deg C and Ambala 11.3 deg C, according to the MeT department.
