Haryana Police Warns Protestors: Threatens Passport and Visa Cancellation Amid ‘Dilli Chalo’ Agitation

The Haryana Police issued a stern warning, declaring intentions to cancel passports and visas of protesting farmers engaged in violence during the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march at the Punjab-Haryana border. As farmers contemplate the resumption of their march, scheduled decisions today may intensify the ongoing standoff.

Haryana Police Warns Protestors: Threatens Passport and Visa Cancellation

Amid the ‘Dilli Chalo’ march at the Punjab-Haryana border, the Haryana Police has issued a strong warning, indicating a crackdown on protestors involved in violence. The law enforcement agency has explicitly stated its intention to cancel passports and visas of those farmers engaged in disruptive activities during the agitation.

As farmers, primarily from Punjab, continue their camp at the Khanauri and Shambhu points since February 13, the Haryana Police has intensified its stance, seeking action against those contributing to disorder. The farmers, advocating for their demands, including a legal guarantee for minimum support price (MSP) and a farm loan waiver, are contemplating the next steps in their march to Delhi.

In response to clashes that resulted in injuries and a tragic incident leading to the death of Shubhkaran Singh, the Punjab Police has registered a murder case against an unidentified person. The FIR resolution has paved the way for a resolution between the farmers and the Punjab government, allowing for the post-mortem of the deceased.

Simultaneously, the Haryana Police, asserting a robust surveillance mechanism, claimed to have identified individuals involved in violent activities during the protest. The law enforcement agency vows to approach the respective embassies and government authorities to request the cancellation of visas and passports for these individuals.

DSP Ambala Joginder Sharma emphasized, “We have identified those involved in violence coming to Haryana from Punjab in the name of farmers’ protest. We will request the ministry and embassy to cancel their visas and passports. Their photos, name, and address will be given to the passport office. We are working on cancelling their passports.”

As the situation escalates, the ‘Dilli Chalo’ protest, led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha and Kisan Mazdoor Morcha, continues to advocate for various demands, including the implementation of the Swaminathan Commission’s recommendations, pension for farmers, justice for victims of the 2021 Lakhimpur Kheri violence, and more. The standoff unfolds against a backdrop of rising tensions and complex negotiations.
