Hathras Stampede: CM Yogi Adityanath to Visit Site, Vows Strict Punishment for Culprits

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has promised to uncover the truth behind the tragic stampede in Hathras, which resulted in the deaths of at least 116 people. He assured that those responsible will be punished, whether the incident was an accident or a conspiracy.

Yogi Adityanath’s Visit and Investigation
CM Yogi Adityanath will visit Hathras today following the stampede during a religious gathering. He is expected to arrive around 11 am and has ordered a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident. He emphasized the government’s commitment to finding the truth and criticized those using the tragedy for political gain. “We will find out whether this was an accident or a conspiracy and punish those responsible,” he said.

Forensic and Rescue Teams on Site
Forensic experts and a dog squad are at the incident site to collect evidence. The NDRF-SDRF teams are also conducting search and rescue operations. A team led by ADG Agra and the Aligarh Divisional Commissioner has been assigned to investigate, with a report due within 24 hours, according to the UP government.

Details of the Stampede and Victim Identification
The Uttar Pradesh government reported that most of the 116 victims have been identified. The stampede happened during a ‘satsang’ in Sikandra Rao, which attracted devotees from various districts and neighboring states. Efforts are ongoing to identify the remaining victims. The tragedy occurred as devotees tried to see Bhole Baba and collect soil from around his feet. District Magistrate Ashish Kumar said the satsang was a private event with permission from the sub-divisional magistrate, and security outside the venue was provided by the local administration while the organizers handled internal arrangements.
