Hathras tragedy: CM Yogi condoles death of devotees, directs authorities for swift relief ops; 50 dead so far

A tragic incident took place during a stampede during a satsang in Sikandra Rau town of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. So far, 50 people have been confirmed dead in this incident, while a large number of people are injured. Most of the dead are said to be women. At the same time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over this incident. Along with this, instructions have been given to investigate the incident.

Hathras tragedy: A tragic incident took place during a stampede during a satsang in Sikandra Rau town of Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. So far, 50 people have been confirmed dead in this incident, while a large number of people are injured. Most of the dead are said to be women. At the same time, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed grief over this incident. Along with this, instructions have been given to investigate the incident.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has expressed condolences to the bereaved families of those killed in the accident in Hathras district. Also wished for speedy recovery of the injured. He has instructed the district administration officials to immediately take the injured to the hospital and provide them proper treatment and to speed up the relief work on the spot. He has given instructions to investigate the causes of the incident under the leadership of ADG Agra and Commissioner Aligarh.

Notably, more than 50 people have died in the stampede at Phulrai village near Mandi of Hathras’ Sikandrarau. Etah Medical College CMO Umesh Kumar Tripathi said, “27 bodies have arrived at the post-mortem house so far, including 25 women and 2 men. Many injured have also been admitted. Further details will be revealed after the investigation. The primary reason is a stampede during a religious event.”

According to Sikandrarau police station SHO Ashish Kumar, the stampede apparently occurred due to overcrowding.
