According to information received, action has been taken against Health Minister Vijay Singla for demanding 1% commission on contract from the authorities. After receiving the complaint, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann dismissed Health Minister Vijay Singla. It may be recalled that for the second time in the history of the country, a Chief Minister has taken stern action directly against his Minister.
Soon after Mann was elected as CM, his Delhi counterpart Arvind Kejriwal had said the AAP government has eradicated corruption in the national capital, and Mann and his ministers will also “now run an honest government in Punjab as well”.
While taking action on Vijay Singla, Bhagwant Mann said, “Arvind Kejriwal told me that I cannot tolerate bribery, dishonesty of one penny. I promised it would not happen. We are the people who came out of the movement and that movement was against corruption.”
Further he added, “A case came to my attention. The minister of my government was involved in this case. In a contract, the minister of my government was asking for one percent commission. Only I knew about this case. This case could have been suppressed. But to do so would be cheating. That’s why I am taking action against that minister. Action is being taken immediately. The name of the minister is Vijay Singla and a case is being registered against him.
