Heavy rain and high-speed wind hit Delhi, NCR, disturbing flight services

New Delhi: Parts of Delhi, Gurgaon, and Noida have received heavy downpour and high-speed wind this evening. The thunderstorms and rain have given some relief from the scratching heat.

The hailstorm was so powerful that it brought traffic to a standstill at several places in Delhi and NCR. A long queue of traffic could be seen on the road. Commuters are struggling to get out to avoid rain and high-speed winds.

The adverse weather will disrupt flight services. Several flights are likely to be delayed due to bad weather. Flight-tracking websites show several passenger planes are standing stationary at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, waiting for the improvement of weather.

Earlier, the weather officer had forecast a thunderstorm with light to heavy rainfall along with a breeze with a speed of up to 50 KMPH. The weather office has also given an indication of rain in Gurgaon and neighbouring Delhi as well.

The bright evening suddenly turned dark around 4:30 pm as the heavy rain, along with wind, started.
