Heavy rains cause flooding in Gujarat; waterlogged, cars submerged

According to the State Emergency Operation Center (SEOC), Sutrapada taluka of Gir Somnath district received the highest rainfall, 345 mm in just 14 hours from 6 am on Tuesday, while Dhoraji taluka of Rajkot district recorded 250 mm of rain during the same period.

New Delhi: Due to heavy rains in Gujarat on Tuesday, a situation of heavy waterlogging has arisen. Due to the torrential rains, water has been flooded in many cities of the state. It has rained so much that even cars have been submerged in many places. Districts like Rajkot, Surat and Gir Somnath have been most affected by the rains. Within a few hours, 300 mm of rain has been recorded in these districts. In view of the water logging caused by heavy rains, 70 people have been safely evacuated from the affected areas.

The video of heavy rain on Tuesday is also going viral on social media. It is seen in this video that due to heavy rains, vehicles parked on the road including cars have been submerged in water at many places. The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rain in some areas of Saurashtra and South Gujarat for the next few days.
