Shimla: Five migrant laborers were killed while three others were seriously injured when a speeding car hit them at Dharampur in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan district this morning. Two people seriously injured were taken to P.G.I. Admitted in Chandigarh. These laborers were residents of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. The police have started investigation by taking the driver into custody.
According to the information received from the police, the accident happened at 9.15 am. The driver of the Innova car (HP02A1540) lost control and several pedestrians were hit. According to eyewitnesses, the speed of the car was high and it seemed that the driver had lost control. All the people crushed by the car are laborers who had gone out for work.
The accident was so gruesome that people got goosebumps after seeing the horrifying scene at the spot. On the information of the local people, the police launched a rescue operation and took the injured to the hospital.
Dharampur DSP Pranav Chauhan said that five people died on the spot in the accident. They have been identified as Guddu Yadav, Raja Verma, Nippu Nishad, Moti Lal Yadav and Shani. He was a native of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh and was working as a laborer here. The injured include Mahesh, Buduveen, Mahesh and Arjun. He has been referred to PGI from Civil Hospital Dharampur.
The DSP said that the dead bodies would be handed over to the relatives after the post-mortem. He said that the accused car driver has been arrested. A case has been registered against him and action is being taken.
