Hindu group members submitted a memo to Bengaluru's Subramanya Nagar police station requesting action against Amazon for selling "obscene" paintings of Radha-Krishna.
New Delhi: After the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti said on Friday that the e-commerce giant Amazon was selling “obscene” paintings of Radha and Krishna, Twitter users began trending the hashtag # Boycott_Amazon.
Hindu group members submitted a memo to Bengaluru’s Subramanya Nagar police station requesting action against Amazon. The organisation claims that Exotic India also offered the identical painting for sale on its website; people celebrated Krishna Janmashtami yesterday.
In a later tweet the group claimed that the painting had been taken down from the website of Exotic India and Amazon. But this is not enough. Both Amazon and Exotic India must offer an unconditional apology and make a commitment to never again offend Hindus. Amazon has not yet issued any statement over the controversy.
