Puducherry: Hindu Munnani cadres stormed into a girls’ higher secondary school in Puducherry and demanded the management shut down the school premises while students were taking their quarterly exams.
Five pro-Hindu organisations in the Union Territory of Puducherry, led by Hindu Munnani, called for a bandh on Tuesday. Therefore, businesses closed their doors and numerous private schools announced a holiday on September 27.
Due to the ongoing quarterly exams, Immaculate Girls Higher Secondary School in Uppalam, where 600 students were enrolled, didn’t announce a holiday.
When they noticed students arriving at the school, Hindu Munnani cadres stormed in and forced the school management to shut down the school. When the parents of the school’s students heard about it, they flocked there in great numbers.
Meanwhile, to challenge the Hindu Munnani cadres, another faction, the Cadres of Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam, also reached the school, which led to a heated argument between the two groups. Finally, the Puducherry Police reached the spot and intervened in this matter. Cops successfully resolved the issue.
After police officials dispersed the Hindu Munnani cadres, exams were conducted as per the schedule.
