New Delhi: 20-Year-old Indian women’s football player Manisha Kalyan has created history. She has become the first female player from the country to play in the UEFA Women’s Champions League. Manisha did this while playing for Apollon Ladies FC at the Makario Stadium. Manisha is one of the star footballers of India. He has done a lot in the last one year.
In fact, in the Women’s Champions League on Thursday, Apollon faced Latvian club Rigas FC. In this qualifying match, Manisha got a chance to play in the 60th minute as a substitute for Marilyn Georgia of Cipras. Apollon defeated Rigas 3–0 in this match. Although Manisha could not score any goal, but she has created history in this European league only by taking the field.

Manisha is the fourth player from India to play in a foreign league. Manisha had performed brilliantly for Gokulam Kerala in the Indian Women’s League. Along with this, his performance in the Indian national football team was also excellent. In view of this, he was selected for this league.
Manisha was also the ‘Player of the Season’ in the last season of the Indian Women’s Football (IWL) League. Manisha scored 14 goals in that tournament. Thanks to Manisha, Gokulam Kerala also won the first IWL title. Apart from this, Manisha was also named AIFF Women’s Footballer of the Year this year. In the year 2021, Manisha also became the ‘Emerging Player of the Year’.
In November 2021, Manisha came to play for India in a friendly match against Brazil. Manisha’s career was changed in this match. 20-year-old winger Manisha scored a goal while tearing the Brazilian defense. She became the first Indian female footballer to score against Brazil in senior football.
Since then, she has been a shining star in Indian football. Months after the tournament ended, Gokulam Kerala announced that Manisha would travel to Cyprus to pursue a bright future. In a recent friendly match, Manisha played a key role in Apollon’s 4-0 win against Omonia FC. He also scored a goal.
