New Delhi: Olympic champion javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra notched up a stunning victory in the Doha Diamond League 2023 on Friday. In the first leg, Neeraj Chopra threw a career-best 88.67m in his first attempt, a career-best fourth. Neeraj Chopra stood first. At the same time, Jakub Vadlejch of Czech Republic finished second with 88.63m. Whereas, Anderson Peters of Grenada finished third with a throw of 85.88m.

It may be noted that Neeraj Chopra’s personal best performance is 89.94m which is also a national record. Neeraj had thrown the javelin in 2018 at Doha Diamond League with a throw of 87.43 metres. He had finished fourth. Neeraj Chopra could not participate in this tournament last year. He became the first Indian to become the Diamond League champion after winning the 2022 Grand Finale in Zurich last September. At the same time, Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur has congratulated Neeraj on his victory in the Doha Diamond League.
