New Delhi: Honda Cars India has unveiled the hybrid version of its best-selling mid-size sedan, City, in the country. The all-new Honda City Hybrid e:HEV is the first strong hybrid mass-market car in the Indian market. Based on the fifth-generation Honda City, which is currently on sale in the Indian market, the new Honda City e:HEV is similar to its Thai-spec counterpart. Bookings for the same are now open. One can book the car online on the company’s official website or by visiting their nearest dealership. It has been offered in India in a sole fully-loaded ZX variant.
The new Honda City Hybrid e:HEV boasts hi-tech features, including ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) with safety features like blind-spot detection, emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and more. It is powered by a 97 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine coupled with a 108 hp electric motor. The combined power output of this powertrain is 124 hp while the torque stands at 253 Nm. Also, with a claimed mileage figure of 26.5 kmpl, the new Honda City Hybrid e:HEV is the most fuel-efficient sedan in India. It is expected to cost Rs 18 lakh, ex-showroom.

Honda City eHEV Hybrid Features
The Honda City eHEV sports a host of features mostly focused on increasing the safety of the popular sedan.
The City eHEV sports a host of safety features as part of its Honda sensing system. These safety features include Collision Mitigation Braking, Lane Keeping Assist, and Road Departure Mitigation.
The Honda Sensing suite also sports Adaptive Cruise Control and Auto High Beam Assist. Other safety features include Hill Start Assist, vehicle stability assist, agile handling assist and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The City eHEV also gets 6 airbags as standard.
The Honda City eHEV also sports an electronic parking brake and automatic brake hold. Also featured on the eHEV are the lane watch camera and the multi-angle rearview camera that help drivers drive on congested city streets.
The Honda City eHEV also features a few unique design features that help distinguish it from its regular sibling. These include full-LED headlights, two-tone 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, a revised grille, and a boot lip spoiler.

Inside, the Honda City eHEV features an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and also features a surround sound speaker system. Other features include a smart key system that can start up the City eHEV’s powertrain with the press of a button. This can also be done through the smartwatch integration offered by Honda’s Smart Connect app.
The Honda City eHEV hybrid sees the Japanese carmaker finally bring its hybrid tech to the mainstream car market. The City eHEV promises to be a revolutionary vehicle in the Indian market but its price will determine if the Indian customer falls in love with it or not.
