Hyderabad. Five people, including a child, were killed and 20 others injured when a lorry rammed into a tractor on the national highway at Munagala in Telangana's Suryapet in the early hours of Sunday.
Hyderabad: In a tragic accident, Five people, including a child, were killed and 20 others injured when a lorry rammed into a tractor on the national highway No. 65 at Munagala district in Telangana’s Suryapet in the early hours of Sunday.
The accident happened when the deceased were returning home after worshiping at the Lord Ayyappa temple on the outskirts of Munagala. Theneru Prameela (35), Chintakayala Prameela (33), Uday Lokesh (8), Naragoni Kotaiya (55) and Gundu Jyothi (38) died in the road accident.
At least 30 people were traveling in the tractor when the vehicle took the wrong route and entered the Hyderabad-Vijayawada National Highway. Meanwhile, the speeding lorry going towards Vijayawada collided with the tractor.
During the collision, all 30 people in the tractor were thrown out of the vehicle on the road. The speeding lorry dragged the tractor for several meters and then stopped.
On getting information, police and local people reached the spot and started rescue work. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Munagala circle inspector Anjaneyulu said the accident happened around midnight and there were 30 people in the tractor.
“In the impact, five people including a child were killed while 25 others were seriously injured. We are probing the matter as to whose fault it was and how the accident happened. The injured have been shifted to a hospital for medical treatment.
