Hyderabad: AAP candidate for Rajasthan polls detained, booked for cheating

Hyderabad: AAP candidate for Rajasthan polls detained, booked for cheating

Kota: An official said that An AAP candidate for the upcoming Rajasthan Assembly elections was detained and booked by police under the charges of cheating some people in Hyderabad, Telangana. On October 26, Deepesh went to Hyderabad for work. But after that there was no contact with him. Deepak’s family filed a missing report at Panwar police station.

32-year-old Dipesh Soni, who is a resident of Panwar and a jewellery trader by profession, has been fielded by the AAP from Khanpur Assembly constituency in Rajasthan’s Jhalawar. The family members told the police that Deepesh was not able to be contacted even on the phone. According to the police, Soni frequently visited Hyderabad on business trips. So, his father lodged a complaint at the Panwar police station on October 28.

Panwad Police started investigation into the case without delay. A police team reached Hyderabad in search of Deepesh where they learned that Deepesh had been taken into custody by the Bashirabad Police of Hyderabad in a fraud case. “By tracking Soni’s mobile phone location, a Rajasthan Police team reached Baserabad on Sunday and found him under the detention of the local police,” Sharma said.

According to Bashirabad Police, Dipesh is accused of cheating a jeweller. Police said that Deepesh gave the fake gold to the jeweler by passing it off as real gold. The AAP leader was booked for cheating a local trader on Saturday and a case under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code was registered against him at the Baserabad police station in Hyderabad, he said.

According to information, Dipesh Soni is a bullion trader. There is a jewelery shop in Banwada town. Bashirabad Police informed that when the jeweler threw the gold key, the copper key came out from under it. After which the jeweler informed the police about the matter and the police took Dipesh into custody. An FIR has been registered against Dipesh under sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal trespass).

According to the police, two cases of fraud have been registered against Dipesh Soni. He is accused of defrauding different traders. Police received complaints against Dipesh on September 15 and October 27. Currently, the police is interrogating the accused Dipesh.The AAP announced Soni its candidate from Khanpur in the list of candidates released by the past last week. The 200-member Rajasthan Assembly will go to polls on November 25 and the counting of votes will be taken up on December 3.
