Hyderabad: BJP leader’s son and 9 others held for consuming drugs at Radisson hotel

Cyberabad Police, who were tipped off about a rave party, confiscated drugs during raids. An investigation has been commenced against people involved and the source of drugs will be determined soon, Madhapur DCP, G Vineeth said.

Hyderabad: In a major breakthrough, the Cyberabad Police on Monday arrested 37-year-old G Vivekananda, the son of a BJP leader along with nine others at Radisson Hotel in Gachibowli for consuming cocaine and other drugs at a party, sources reported.

Police said that Gajjala Vivekanand, son of BJP leader G Yoganand and grandson of former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K Rosaiah, was apprehended for consuming cocaine during a party organised in a hotel room of Radisson Blu in Gachibowli. Nine others, including one Syed Abbas Ali Jeffery, Nirbhay and Kedhar, were also arrested in the same case.

Vivekananda’s father Yoganandam, contested assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Serilingampally. Yoganandam is a relative of ex Andhra Pradesh CM K Rosaiah. Vivekananda is the director of the prominent Manjeera group of companies in Hyderabad.

Other people held in the drug bust include Jubilee 800 pub owner Kedarnath and is an associate to several tollywood stars.

Meanwhile, police also arrested Telangana Agricultural Extension officer (AEO) for diverting Rs 2.05 crore of Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima money using fake identities.

The man recognised as Goreti Srisailam, was involved in 20 fake claims of LIC money under Rythu Bima to the tune of Rs 1 crore and misappropriated Rythu Bandhu funds of Rs 1 crore from 2019 till date.
