In yet another horrifying incident, Eight men barged into a house on the outskirts of Hyderabad and three of them raped a 15-year-old minor. After this accident, the opposition leaders protested angrily. A police officer said that three men took turns to rape the minor. The victim has been sent to Sakhi Center for medical examination and recording of her statement.
Hyderabad: In yet another horrifying incident, an orphan girl was allegedly raped by eight men on the outskirts of Hyderabad on Monday. The miscreants barged into a house and three of them raped a 16-year-old girl. Angry opposition leaders have launched protests and demanded severe punishment for the accused. The girl and her 14-year-old brother have lost their parents and moved in with her cousin in Meerpet, a few weeks ago.
According to police officials, on Monday morning, he was at home with three other children from the neighborhood when eight men armed with knives forced their way into the house. Three of them forcibly took the victim to the terrace, while others threatened her brother and other children at knifepoint. The three men took turns to rape her.
As the matter spread like wildfire, a large number of people, including Congress workers led by Meerpet Mayor Parijat Reddy, staged a protest near the victim’s house. Police later said that Reddy and other party leaders were arrested and shifted to Amberpet police station. Police personnel have been deployed to prevent any breakdown of law and order.
Rachakonda Police Commissioner DS Chauhan also came to the spot. LB Nagar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) B Sai Shree said seven special police teams have been formed to arrest the accused. “We have registered a case of gang-rape of a minor and under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act,” he said. The DCP said, the girl has been sent to Sakhi Center for medical examination and recording of her statement.
When minor victim started shouting for help, the accused fled from the spot. Immediately, his brother told the neighbors and they informed the police. The police officer said, “We have examined CCTV cameras to trace the accused. But they are absconding. We are also probing whether he had any past enmity with the victim’s family.”
The accused were said to be under the influence of ganja. They included a couple of rowdy-sheeters.
The victim, a Dalit, is employed at a garment shop in Dilsukhnagar, while her younger brother works as a helper in installing flexi.
