Seoul: Hyundai Motor has overtaken Toyota to take its No. 1 position in hydrogen electric vehicle sales.
According to SNE Research on 2nd, Hyundai Motor sold 4,700 hydrogen electronic vehicles in the global market in the first half of this year, surpassing Toyota, which sold 3700 units.
Sales of the NEXO 2021 model released in January grew 91.1% year-on-year in the second quarter, mainly due to the increase in sales of Hyundai Motor.
Toyota came in second, but grew more than 8.3 times year over year with strong sales of the new Toyota Mirai Gen 2 model.
Honda, which announced in June that it would cease production of its flagship model, the Honda Clarity, has continued to lose market share as growth has fallen below the market average, even though its sales have increased slightly.
SNE Research analyzed that the two-river structure of Hyundai Motor and Toyota would continue, and that Honda’s market share would decline sharply.
