ICC Ranking: Rohit Sharma led team India become no 1 team in all formats of the Game

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma created history. Team India reached number one in the ICC rankings in all three formats (Test, ODI and T20). This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that Team India has become number one in all three formats simultaneously.

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma created history. Team India reached number one in the ICC rankings in all three formats (Test, ODI and T20). This is the first time in the history of Indian cricket that Team India has become number one in all three formats simultaneously.

The ICC updated the rankings on Wednesday, 15 February 2023. The Indian cricket team got the benefit of victory in the Nagpur Test and became number one in the Test as well. Before the start of the first Test match against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, the Indian cricket team was at number 2 in the Test rankings.

Team India reached the top of the Test rankings for the first time in 1973. However, he had to wait 36 ​​years to regain the top spot. In the year 2009, under the leadership of Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Team India again became number one in the Test rankings. The Indian cricket team topped the Test rankings till 2011. The Indian team, led by Virat Kohli, reached the top again in 2016 and held the number one position till April 2020. Since then, Team India remained in the top-3, but has now become number one again.

India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin is on the verge of returning to the top spot in the ICC Men’s Test Bowling Rankings, while Ravindra Jadeja has also made a quantum jump after the big win against Australia. Left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja, who was sidelined for nearly five months due to a knee injury, has moved up to 16th position.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja combined for 15 wickets to guide India to a 132-run win in the first Test between the two premier nations in the current cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. The 36-year-old Ashwin is just 21 rating points behind Australia skipper Pat Cummins in the Test bowling rankings. He is on course to regain the No. 1 ranking for the first time since 2017.

Rising West Indies spinner Gudakesh Moti took 19 wickets in two Tests against Zimbabwe. Gudakesh Moti has played only 3 test matches so far. Gudakesh Moti has jumped 77 places to reach the 46th position.

Among India’s other bowlers, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, who has been out of the team since September last year due to injury, is fifth in the rankings. In the list of batsmen, Indian captain Rohit Sharma has the advantage of scoring a century in Nagpur. Rohit Sharma has moved from 10th to eighth position. Wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant, who is out of the team due to a car accident, is the top Indian player in the rankings. Rishabh Pant in seventh place.

In contrast, Australia’s openers David Warner and Usman Khawaja had to pay the price of getting out cheaply twice. David Warner has dropped six places to 20th after scoring another 10, while Usman Khawaja has dropped two places to 10th after scoring just one more five in the first Test.
