Illegal Drug Manufacturing Unit Raided in Telangana, Seizure Worth Nearly Rs 9 Crore

In a significant crackdown on illicit drug trade, officials in Telangana’s Sangareddy district have dismantled an illegal manufacturing unit and seized narcotics valued at Rs 8.99 crore. The seized substance, metaphedrone, falls under the purview of the NDPS Act, 1985, highlighting the gravity of the operation.

Key Seizure Details

During a coordinated operation involving the Telangana Drugs Control Administration and the Prohibition and Excise Department, a substantial quantity of 3-methylmethcathinone, commonly known as 3-MMC or metaphedrone, was confiscated from PSN Medicare Private Ltd in IDA Bollaram. The haul amounted to 90.48 kg of the banned substance, indicative of the scale of illegal activity being perpetrated.

International Nexus Uncovered

Investigations revealed a disturbing pattern of illicit drug production and exportation to European markets on a large scale. The clandestine activities carried out at the manufacturing unit underscore the brazen nature of drug trafficking operations, with the seized substance earmarked for international distribution.

Modus Operandi Exposed

During the surprise inspection, officials discovered the manufacturing process of illicit drugs camouflaged under covert code names. Notably, a significant cache of the substance, labeled ‘YLV01,’ was traced to the site, devoid of any batch manufacturing records or production logs.

Legal Ramifications

Further scrutiny of the operations led to the identification of the chemical composition of ‘YLV01’ as ‘2-(methylamino)-1-(3-methylphenyl)propan-1-one,’ a prohibited substance classified as metaphedrone under the NDPS Act, 1985. Director Kasthur Reddy Nemallapudi of PSN Medicare Private Ltd faces legal repercussions following revelations of his involvement in the production and distribution of illicit drugs.
