IMD alert heavy rain occur in North East today due to Cyclone Mocha, Dust storm to continue in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: Dust storm with strong winds may occur in Delhi-NCR today and there is a possibility of splashing with thunder. The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on May 15 under the influence of Cyclone Mocha. IMD has also issued an Orange Alert regarding this.

New Delhi: Dust storm with strong winds (wind speed of 30-40 kmph) may occur in Delhi-NCR today and there is a possibility of splashing with thunder. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), dust storm and thundershowers are expected in different areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi, Rajasthan.

The maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to be 42 degree Celsius on May 15. On May 14, the maximum temperature in Delhi was recorded at 40.9 degree Celsius. Which was 1 degree Celsius more than normal. According to the IMD, the severe cyclonic storm Mocha weakened after hitting the coast of Myanmar on Sunday. The cyclone caused massive devastation in the port city of Sittwe in Myanmar. Flood-like situation arose in some parts of Sittwe, the capital of Myanmar’s Rakhine province. Winds blowing at a speed of 130 miles per hour blew away tin roofs.

According to rescue services in Myanmar, two people died in the landslide. At the same time, local media has reported the death of a person due to falling of a tree in Myanmar. The biggest storm to hit the Bay of Bengal in more than a decade turned the streets of Sittwe into rivers.

The IMD has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Assam, Meghalaya Arunachal Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim on May 15 under the influence of Cyclone Mocha. IMD has also issued an Orange Alert regarding this.

On the other hand, rain with thunder and lightning is expected at different places in South Interior Karnataka. While lightning may occur at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Kerala and Mahe.

According to IMD, there is a possibility of an increase of 2 to 4 degree Celsius in the maximum temperature in many parts of East India during the next 3 days, while there will be an increase of 2 to 3 degree Celsius in many parts of South India during the next 5 days. Today there is a possibility of heat wave in different areas of Odisha, Vidarbha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam.

On the other hand, during May 15 to 17, heat wave will be seen in Odisha and on May 16 in Gangetic West Bengal. Due to moist air and high temperature, there is a possibility of hot and uncomfortable weather over Konkan and Gujarat coast today.
