A drop in temperature is being recorded in the states of North India including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab. At the same time, there is a blanket of dense fog in the morning, due to which the visibility is very less. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of cold wave for the next five days in many states of North India including Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan.
New Delhi: At the end of the year, severe cold is coming in North India, due to which people are coming under the grip of dense fog. From Delhi-NCR to Bihar, every state is covered with a thick layer of fog, reducing visibility to zero. According to the Meteorological Department, there is an orange alert for dense fog in Delhi, UP, Bihar, Punjab for the next two days.
In the national capital Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Punjab today (Tuesday), on December 20, there is a blanket of dense fog in the morning. The Meteorological Department has issued a red alert for dense to very dense fog for Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. A decrease in temperature is being recorded in most parts of North India. Due to dense fog in Delhi-NCR, visibility is less than 100 meters at many places.
Poor visibility alert issued
IMD has shared the lowest visibility report as per cities on December 20. “The lowest visibility reported at 0530 hours IST Dated 20.12.2022: Bhatinda: 00; Amritsar: 25; Ganganagar: 25; Patiala: 25; Delhi (Palam): 25; Lucknow: 25; Delhi (SFD): 50; Purnea: 50; Ambala: 200; Agra: 200; Gorakhpur: 300; Bareilly: 500; Patna: 500; Gaya: 500; Kolkata: 500,” read the tweet of IMD.
In another tweet, the IMD has described visibility in meters as per cities. “The lowest visibility (in meters) reported at 0530 hours IST of today: Bhatinda: 00; Amritsar, Ganganagar, Patiala, Delhi (Palam) and Lucknow: 25; Delhi (SFD) and Purnea: 50; Ambala and Agra: 200; Gorakhpur: 300; Bareilly, Patna, Gaya and Kolkata: 500,” read the tweet of IMD.

According to the Meteorological Department, today i.e. on December 20, the minimum temperature in Delhi will be 6 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 22 degrees. At the same time, dense fog will be seen in Delhi for the next 3 days. In the coming days, a decrease in temperature will be recorded in Delhi. Talking about pollution, Delhi’s air quality is in the severe category. AQI 444 was recorded in Anand Vihar area around 6 pm yesterday, which falls in the severe category.

UP weather update
Today in Lucknow, the minimum temperature will be 9 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 22 degrees. Dense fog will remain in Lucknow today. In Ghaziabad too, today the minimum temperature will be 9 degrees and the maximum temperature will be 24 degrees. Ghaziabad will also witness dense fog today.
Himachal Pradesh weather update
In Shimla, Himachal Pradesh today, the minimum temperature will be recorded at 8 degrees and the maximum temperature will be recorded at 18 degrees. At the same time, the minimum temperature in Manali will be zero, while the maximum temperature will be recorded at 17 degrees. The minimum temperature in Spiti Valley can be recorded at -7 degree and the maximum temperature can be recorded at 10 degree.

According to the Meteorological Department, cold wave conditions are likely to continue in Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana and North Rajasthan during the next 5 days. In such a situation, problems can increase due to the torture of cold, pollution and fog.
