IMD forecast alert light to scattered rain and snowfall in HP, J&K and Uttarakhand from February 19 to 21

According to IMD, light to scattered rain and snowfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from February 19 to 21, 2023. Along with this, there is a possibility of light rain till February 20 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland of North East. Light to scattered rain is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 5 days.

New Delhi: A fresh new round of rain and snowfall is about to begin in the northwestern Himalayan region of the country. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), due to the effect of a jet stream, light rain and snowfall will occur in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on February 17.

While a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to affect the Western Himalayan region from February 18. Due to its effect, light scattered rain and snowfall is expected in Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad on 18th. After this and during 19 to 21 February, there is a possibility of intensification of rain and snowfall in the entire region.

According to IMD, light to scattered rain and snowfall is expected in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand from February 19 to 21, 2023. Along with this, there is a possibility of light rain till February 20 in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya and Nagaland of North East. Light to scattered rain is likely over Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next 5 days.

The weather is likely to remain dry in the rest of the country. Shallow to moderate fog very likely over Coastal Odisha and isolated parts of Assam and Meghalaya during night and morning hours during next 48 hours. While there is no possibility of any significant change in the weather in the rest of the country during the next 5 days.

Minimum temperatures are likely to increase gradually by 3 to 5 °C over many parts of East India and by 2-4 °C over many parts of Northwest, Central India and Maharashtra during next 5 days. The minimum temperature at some places in Himachal Pradesh and West Rajasthan was much above normal (3.1°C to 5.1°C).

Along with this, maximum temperatures are also above normal (5.1 degree Celsius or more) at most places of Himachal Pradesh and Rajasthan. Apart from this, maximum temperatures were also above normal at many places over Gujarat region, Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Uttarakhand, Konkan and Goa and at a few places over Coastal Karnataka.
