New Delhi: Heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Himachal Pradesh, Jammu division and Punjab today on March 24. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted the possibility of lightning, hail, strong winds (40-50 km per hour) and rain in Punjab and Haryana.
According to the IMD today, West Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala, Mahe, Coastal Andhra There may be rain with lightning, hailstorm and strong wind (30-40 km per hour) in the state and Yanam.
According to IMD, strong wind (speed reaching 45-55 kmph gusting to 65 kmph) is very likely over Northeast and adjoining Northwest Arabian Sea today. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas. In view of the stormy weather, the IMD has issued a yellow alert in several districts of Rajasthan and a yellow watch for the states of Kashmir, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar and the Northeast.
According to the Meteorological Department, a Western Disturbance is being seen over Iran and its neighborhood. It is very likely to move eastwards towards North India during next 2 days. According to IMD, a cyclonic circulation is present over Southwest Rajasthan and its neighbourhood. Whereas in the lower troposphere levels, a trough is running from Rayalseema to South Jharkhand. Due to which there is a possibility of rain in North West India.
There is a possibility of hailstorm at some places in Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, North Rajasthan on March 24 and Uttarakhand on March 25. According to IMD, a new round of rain and thunderstorm and hail is likely to start in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on March 25 and 26. Rain and thundershowers are likely over Telangana, Kerala and Mahe and Interior Karnataka from March 24.
