IMD forecast issues alert moderate to heavy rains in the states of South India, cyclone forecast in Bay of Bengal

IMD forecast issues alert moderate to heavy rains in the states of South and Central India. Moderate to heavy rain has been predicted in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Odisha, Chhattisgarh,Kerala, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh. It is believed that it may rain in Jharkhand today. At the same time, a cyclone has also been forecast in the Bay of Bengal, due to which the weather is likely to take a turn once again.

New Delhi: The areas from Delhi-NCR to UP-Bihar have got relief from heavy rains. The departure of the Southwest Monsoon from North India is almost complete, but its effect is still visible in South and Central India. This is the reason that from Pune-Thane in Maharashtra to Karnataka and Kerala, the rains are continuing. At the same time, a cyclone has also been forecast in the Bay of Bengal, due to which the weather is likely to take a turn once again.

The India Meteorological Department said that a low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal and it can turn into a cyclone by the weekend. According to the IMD, a low pressure area is likely to form over the southwest and adjoining east-central part of the Bay of Bengal within the next 36 hours. It said that it is very likely to move west-northwestwards and by the morning of October 22, it may become a pressure area over the middle of the Bay of Bengal.

According to the IMD, it is likely to turn into a cyclonic storm over the west-central Bay of Bengal. IMD Director said that the low pressure area is likely to intensify into a storm, but no forecast is being issued about its intensity and route. He said that only after the formation of a low pressure area, we can give more details about the cyclone. In view of this forecast, the Odisha government has canceled the holidays of government employees between October 23 and 25. The state has put coastal districts on alert.

Meteorological information website Skymet has predicted heavy rain in the states of South India today i.e. on Wednesday as well. Moderate to heavy rain has been predicted in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Mizoram, Odisha, Chhattisgarh,Kerala, Nagaland and Andhra Pradesh. It is believed that it may rain in Jharkhand today. However, the weather may be kind in UP-Bihar and Delhi-NCR. There is a possibility of snowfall in the Himalayan and mountainous regions.
