IMD forecast predicts rains in these states including Delhi-NCR today, yellow alert issued in UP

New Delhi: According to the weather department, it is expected to rain in many areas of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana from April 1. Rain is continuing in many parts of North India since last 36 hours. According to private weather agency Skymet, the weather will remain clear in most parts of Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

New Delhi: According to the weather department, it is expected to rain in many areas of Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana from April 1. Rain is continuing in many parts of North India since last 36 hours. According to private weather agency Skymet, the weather will remain clear in most parts of Gujarat and West Madhya Pradesh during the next 24 hours.

However, heavy rain and hail are expected at one or two places with light to moderate rain over Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, parts of Punjab, Haryana, Gangetic West Bengal and North Odisha.

The rains that started on Wednesday in the northern part of the country are expected to continue today. Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh including Delhi NCR may receive heavy rains today and tomorrow i.e. on April 2. In many areas, there will be hail along with the rain, due to which the farmers are expected to suffer heavy losses.

There may be snowfall in the higher mountainous areas. Light to moderate rains may occur over Sikkim, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Northeast India, Bihar, rest of Odisha, East Uttar Pradesh and East Madhya Pradesh (Rain Update Today). Light rain is possible at one or two places over North and East Rajasthan, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The weather will be like this in Delhi today
In many parts of the capital Delhi and NCR, it is expected to rain with thunder and lightning on Saturday (Delhi NCR Rain Update). While the maximum temperature is likely to be around 30 degree Celsius. The rains in Delhi in the last few days have prevented the temperature from rising. Light rain lashed the city on Friday as well and the maximum temperature was recorded at 28.5 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. The Meteorological Department has forecast very light rain and thundershowers at some places on Saturday.

In several districts of UP, there was torrential rain on Friday, due to which the crops suffered a lot. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for rain in many districts of UP today. The names of the districts for which alert has been issued are Lucknow, Rae Bareli, Barabanki, Mathura, Aligarh, Hathras, Agra, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Sambhal, Shamli, Baghpat, Ghaziabad, Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, Moradabad, Hapur, Bijnor Yellow alert for rain has also been issued in Amroha, Rampur, Firozabad, Bareilly, Auraiya, Mainpuri, Etawah and Kannauj.

According to the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, unseasonal rains are causing significant damage to crops in Rajasthan, Himachal, Punjab, UP Uttarakhand. Due to hailstorm and strong winds, the mango crop in the country is estimated to suffer up to 20 percent loss. The fresh round of rains has started at a time when the wheat crop is almost ready for harvesting.

Farmers fear that rain may have an adverse effect on the crop. The respective state governments have already ordered a survey to assess the crop damage. The Punjab Cabinet on Friday approved a 25 percent hike in compensation for crop losses due to bad weather.
