IMD forecast sounded ‘red alert’ for heavy rainfall in these states till 10 August. Check details here

New Delhi: Continues heavy rainfall are happened in many parts of the country. IMD issued red alert for heavy rainfall in these states till 10 August. The Met Department on Monday said that Central India, North-west and Eastern coast could get spells of intense isolated spells. Parts of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana could also experience heavy rainfall through the first few days of this week.

On Monday , taking to the Twitter, The weather department tweeted, “a well marked low-pressure area over Northwest & adjoining West-central Bay of Bengal off Odisha and adjoining north Andhra Pradesh coasts. It is likely to concentrate into a Depression during next 48 hours and move west-northwestwards across Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Intense wet spell very likely over Odisha during 07th to 10th; Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 07th-11th; Telangana during 07th to 09th; Chhattisgarh during 08th to 10th; Gujarat Region during 08th-11th; Saurashtra & Kutch during 09th to 11th August, 2022.”

IMD has sounded a red alert in Telangana and Maharashtra for Monday, and orange alert for all of central and western India, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat and Maharashtra, for Tuesday and Wednesday. Authorities need to act to prevent rainfall related disasters in these regions. The IMD has said that heavy falls accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning are very likely to occur over Gangetic West Bengal during 9-11 August, over Jharkhand on 10 and 11August, over Odisha during 8-12 August, over Assam and Meghalaya on 8 and 9 August and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura on 8, 9 and 12 August.

The weather department said that Extremely heavy rainfall are likely to occur over Odisha on 8 and 9 August, adding that very heavy rainfall also likely to occur over Odisha on 10 August. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall of over 200mm is also likely over Odisha on August 9. Widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rain and thunderstorm or lightning is likely over Vidarbha and eastern Madhya Pradesh on August 7, 8 and 10; Saurashtra and Kutch on August 8; western Madhya Pradesh on August 8; Marathwada on August 8 and 10, according to the weather agency.

The Meteorological Department has sounded Very heavy rainfall also likely over Uttarakhand on 10th and over East Rajasthan on 12 August. Heavy falls and thunderstorm, lightning very likely over southeast Rajasthan during 8-12 August, over east Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh on 11 August, West Uttar Pradesh on12 August. The Met futher said that Very heavy rainfall likely over North Interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe on 08 August, over Telangana on 9 August, over Coastal and South Karnataka on 8 and 9 August. Further the weather department stated that isolated extremely heavy rainfall is also likely to occur over Telangana on 8 August.

Isolated heavy falls and thunderstorm and lightning very likely over Rayalaseema and ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on 8 August, Telangana and Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam on 8 and 9 August, Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe during 8-11 August.

The Meteorological Department said that Isolated very heavy rainfall likely over West Madhya Pradesh during 10th -12 August, over East Madhya Pradesh during 8-12 August, Chhattisgarh during 09th -11th; Vidarbha on 10th & 11th; Marathwada on 08th & 09th; Gujarat Region on 08th & 11th; Saurashtra & Kutch on 08th , 09th & 11 th and over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra & Konkan & Goa on 11th August. Widespread rainfall is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam in Puducherry on August 8 and 9; north interior Karnataka, Kerala and Mahe till August 11; and Rayalaseema, coastal and south interior Karnataka on August 10 and 11.

The weather department has sounded that Isolated/scattered extremely heavy rainfall also likely over Chhattisgarh on 08 th; Vidarbha on 08th & 09th; Konkan & Goa and ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 08 th -10 th; Gujarat Region on 09th & 10 th and over Saurashtra & Kutch on 10 th August. Isolated very heavy rainfall is likely over coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana; and coastal and southern Karnataka till August 9. Isolated extremely heavy rainfall is likely over Telangana on August 8 and 9.
