According to the Indian Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh including parts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry. On the other hand, there is a possibility of light rain in the capital Delhi and Northeast India.
New Delhi: Rain brings respite from muggy weather but incessant heavy rain cause waterlogging, landslides which disrupts normal vehicular movement. The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rain in these states on Tuesday. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of heavy rains in some areas of Tamil Nadu and adjoining Puducherry and some districts adjoining the Western Ghats during the next 24 hours.
The Tamil Nadu coast will likely witness stormy weather with wind speeds reaching 40-50 Kmph. Similar conditions are likely to prevail over the Comorin area, Gulf of Mannar, and Southwest Bay of Bengal off Sri Lanka coast, IMD noted. The fishermen have been warned not to venture into the seas for the next three days.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, some districts of Tamil Nadu and some parts of Puducherry may intensify its intensity with heavy rains today and Wednesday. The Meteorological Department says that as soon as the deep pressure area forming in the Bay of Bengal comes near the Tamil Nadu coast, it is likely to cause heavy rains.
Red alert in Tamil Nadu and Madhya Pradesh
According to IMD, light to moderate rainfall with isolated thunderstorms and lightning is likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal areas on Tuesday and Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is predicted at isolated places over Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Theni, Dindigul, Tiruppur, Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Villupuram, Cuddalore, Pudukottai and delta districts of Tamilnadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next two days. Similar conditions are expected to prevail for the next few days. Along with this, the Meteorological Department has expressed the possibility of very heavy rain at one or two places of Madhya Pradesh and has spoken of moderate to heavy rains in the western part of Madhya Pradesh.
Northeast India will see moderate rain
Apart from this, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in some parts of West Bengal, Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar, including the states of Northeast India. The Meteorological Department has also predicted light to moderate rains in the northern states of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
Delhi weather update
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain with light rain may occur at some places over East and South Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala and Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Central Maharashtra. The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Interior Karnataka, including the national capital Delhi.
