IMD: Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand including East Central India for next 4 days

With the onset of monsoon, parts of India received record heavy rains. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue over east and east central India during the next three days. An increase in rainfall activity is also predicted over northeast India on August 3.

IMD: Heavy rain alert in Uttarakhand including East Central India for next 4 days

New Delhi: IMD warns of very heavy rainfall in many parts of India from August 1-4. The Meteorological Department on Monday said that heavy rains are likely to continue over east and east central India for the next three days, while the weather forecast for the northwest ranged from light to moderate at isolated places from Tuesday to Friday.

Heavy rains in Uttarakhand, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh
Rain is expected over Uttarakhand and East Uttar Pradesh on all four days. There is a possibility of rain in Haryana and West Uttar Pradesh from Wednesday to Friday. Himachal Pradesh and East Rajasthan will receive rain on Thursday and Friday. It is expected to rain in Punjab on Thursday.

According to the Meteorological Department, heavy to very heavy rainfall activity is likely to continue over east and east central India during the next three days. An increase in rainfall activity is also predicted over northeast India on August 3.

“Light/moderate scattered to fairly widespread rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh during 01st-04th August; Haryana, West Uttar Pradesh during 02nd-04th August; Himachal Pradesh & East Rajasthan on 03rd & 04th and over Punjab 03rd August,” the IMD stated.

Isolated very heavy rainfall is also very likely over Uttarakhand and west Uttar Pradesh on August 2 and 3 and over east Uttar Pradesh on August 2.

Delhi Weather Today
According to the Meteorological Department, the sky will be cloudy in Delhi today. Strong wind will also blow. Light drizzle is expected in some areas from Wednesday.

Central India
Light/moderate to heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh during August 1 to 3, North Chhattisgarh on August 1 and 2, Vidarbha on August 2, and Northwest Madhya Pradesh on August 2 and 3. There is also a possibility of very heavy rainfall at isolated places over East Madhya Pradesh on August 2.

Eastern India
Thunderstorm/lightning with lightning at isolated places over Bihar during August 1 to 4, Odisha during August 1 to 3, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand during August 1 to 2, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during August 3 and 4 Moderate to heavy rain is likely.

Northeast India
Light/moderate to heavy rainfall would occur over the region during next four days. There is a possibility of very heavy rainfall at some places on 3rd and 4th August.

West India
Light/moderate to heavy rainfall very likely to continue over Konkan & Goa and Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during next four days. There is a possibility of very heavy rain on August 3.

South India
Light/moderate rains will occur over Coastal Karnataka during August 2 to 4. There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at some places. Rainfall activity will reduce over the remaining areas.
