IMD issues red alert for heavy to very heavy rain in Uttarakhand, holiday declared in 9 districts today

The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy rain across the state on Tuesday. Heavy rain has been warned in the districts of the state. A warning of heavy rain has been issued in the state on Wednesday as well.

Uttarakhand: Monsoon is fully active in Uttarakhand, at present, there is no hope of relief from rain. According to the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain in the state today, for which a red alert has been issued.

The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy rain across the state on Tuesday. Heavy rain has been warned in the districts of the state. A warning of heavy rain has been issued in the state on Wednesday as well.

According to Dr. Vikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain at some places in Champawat, Nainital, Udham Singh Nagar of Uttarakhand on Tuesday. In the rest of the districts, there may be heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places. There will be lightning and heavy rain at some places in the state. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami took stock of the ongoing rains across the state by conducting a surprise inspection at the Disaster Control Room located at the Secretariat, Dehradun on Monday late night.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said that all the officers who are on duty in the Disaster Management Department. His role is extremely important in such times. He said that all the officers remained in active mode for 24 hours. Work with all the districts by maintaining mutual coordination and communication. He said that strict action would be taken against the officers who were negligent during the disaster.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inquired about the present water level of rivers across the state. He said that the rivers are flowing above the danger mark. The administration there should be alerted and the people living near the river should be sent to safe places at the earliest.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inquired about the operation of Char Dham Yatra and Kanwar Yatra including the condition of roads across the state. He said that the obstructed roads should be opened immediately. The places where tourists are stranded should be evacuated and sent to safer places.

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami spoke to District Magistrate Pithoragarh over phone and got information about the situation in Darma, Beas and other valleys. The Chief Minister spoke to the District Magistrate Chamoli over phone and got information about the landslide in Malari. The Chief Minister took information from the District Magistrate Haridwar and Uttarkashi about the damage caused by the rains in the respective districts through telephone. Instructing all the district officers, Chief Minister Dhami said that arrangements should be made to evacuate people from places where they are stranded, as well as there should be adequate arrangements for their food and accommodation. If there is any deficiency at the district level, the government should be informed immediately.

In view of the warning of heavy rains in Uttarakhand, the District Magistrates in many districts of the state have declared a holiday on July 11 in all government, non-government, private schools and all Anganwadi centers in the district. However, the District Magistrates of many districts have declared holiday on Sunday itself.

The Meteorological Center has issued a red alert for heavy rains in the districts of Uttarakhand for the next two days. Monday was also declared a holiday in many districts. On the other hand, the District Magistrates of capital Dehradun, Tehri, Rudraprayag Chamoli, Pauri and Pithoragarh have declared holiday on July 11 in all government, non-government, private schools and all Anganwadi centers of the district under their districts.

After the Meteorological Department’s warning, on Monday, the District Magistrate of Chamoli had declared a two-day holiday on July 11 and July 12 in all government, non-government, private schools and all Anganwadi centers in the district.

Earlier on Sunday, holiday was declared on July 10, July 11 and July 12 in Almora and Bageshwar districts. While in Nainital district, 4-day holiday was declared from July 10 to July 13 in all government, non-government, private schools and all Anganwadi centers in the district. 2 days holiday was declared for 10 July and 11 July in Udham Singh Nagar.
