IMD predicts heatwave to increase for next 5 days, mercury crosses 40.5 degree Celsius in Delhi-NCR

New Delhi: In most of the states, including the national capital, heat waves have started to appear. The temperature in Delhi-NCR on Saturday was 40.5 degree Celsius which was the hottest day of the season. The mercury remained close to or above 40 in most parts of the country.

New Delhi: In most of the states, including the national capital, heat waves have started to appear. The temperature in Delhi-NCR on Saturday was 40.5 degrees Celsius which was the hottest day of the season.

The mercury remained close to or above 40 in most parts of the country.According to the weather department, the temperature will remain between 40-42 degrees in most of the states for the next five days. Many parts of East, North West and Central India may experience an increase in temperature of 3 to 5 degrees above normal.

Faridabad was the hottest in NCR. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 43.1 degrees. While Noida recorded 40.8 degrees Celsius, Gurugram 41.0 degrees Celsius, Ghaziabad recorded 39.7 degrees Celsius.

At the same time, Prayagraj was the hottest in UP on Saturday, where the day temperature was recorded at 44.2 degree Celsius. The mercury in Agra was recorded at 42.6 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, the weather may turn again between April 17 and 19 in some parts including Delhi-NCR, Punjab, Haryana UP. Thunderstorm and rain are likely in some areas. There may also be hailstorm in some parts.
